Zimbabwean government limits number of people a public gathering to 100

In a bid to avoid confusion and violation of Coronavirus led restrictions, the Zimbabwean government has capped the number of people allowed at any public gathering to 100. Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa, during an address to a post-cabinet media briefing on December 1, said that different numbers were causing confusion and violation of COVID-19 restrictions.

She stated, “Accordingly, henceforth, the number of people permitted at any gathering is restricted to 100, irrespective of what the gathering is being convened for.” “Cabinet takes this opportunity to call upon all citizens to strictly adhere to COVID-19 protective and preventive guidelines in order to arrest the surge in confirmed cases,” she added.

In a move to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government had specified different numbers for various types of public gatherings.
