Zimbabwean Government dismisses Deputy Information Minister

Zimbabwe’s Deputy Information Minister, Energy Mutodi has been fired by the government of Zimbabwe over his remarks upon the alleged charges of abduction of a female Member of Parliament and two of her colleagues as the commotion over payment for sex.

Energy Mutodi has dismissed the claims and the government gave no reason for his dismissal. Energy Mutodi has been engaged in several public feuds with several Zimbabwean Ministers and a tweet by him about the opposition MP, Joana Mamombe, has also been deleted.

The case of abduction and torture of the women has attracted severe criticism from the Foreign Embassies in Harare, including those of the European Union and the United States. They have demanded a swift and credible investigation into the matter.

The three women are undergoing treatment in the hospital after being found at the roadside near the town of Bindura. Two days earlier they were arrested for taking part in an anti-government protest.
