Yet no final call on Israeli annexation plan, say U.S. officials

Senior U.S. officials on Thursday, June 25, said that there has been no final call made on to give Israel a green light to annex parts of the occupied West Bank even after three days of White House meetings between aides to U.S. President Donald Trump.

Referring to the president’s Israeli-Palestinian peace blueprint that could provide a basis for Netanyahu’s annexation moves, one of the officials said, “There is as yet no final decision on the next steps for implementing the Trump plan.”

The high level discussions were held between the two sides and took up the matter of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to extend Israeli sovereignty over Jewish settlements in the territory, a move that has drawn condemnation from the Palestinians, U.S. Arab allies and other foreign governments.
