WHO sets a new high watermark for COVID-19 cases as reports more than 6.6 Lakh cases of the infectious disease

Showing a record daily number of new Coronavirus cases over the weekend, the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 dashboard on November 15 set a new high watermark.

The WHOs’ COVID-19 numbers on November 15, reached to 660,905 surpassing the November 13’s count of 645,410 cases, which itself surpassed the previous daily record high of 614,013 recorded on November 7. Since the emergence of the pandemic, there have been more than 53.7 million confirmed cases of the disease in total, as per the WHO’s figures while over 1.3 million lives have been lost.

Warning against the rising infection numbers, WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, there was “a long way to go” in getting the virus under control globally.
