Uzbekistan will Receive 83 Million Euros in EU Funding

The Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, in collaboration with the European Union Delegation to Uzbekistan, hosted the 4th meeting of the Uzbekistan-EU Sub-Committee on Development Cooperation. 

Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Shukhrat Vafayev and Head of Unit of the European Commission Sarah Rinaldi co-chaired the event, which was attended by representatives from the European Commission, the Delegation, and embassies of EU member states in Uzbekistan, as well as relevant ministries and agencies. 

The meeting’s main topics were the prospects and directions for continued bilateral financial and technical collaboration with the European Commission within the new program cycle for 2021-2027. 

The parties discussed the implementation of projects and activities in the areas of agricultural and green growth support, management efficiency, and digitalization, including judicial, transportation, and logistics systems, improving the investment climate, and the Aral Sea region’s socio-economic development. 

The European side announced the European Commission’s intention to allocate 83 million euros in targeted grants to Uzbekistan for the years 2021-2024, as well as to expand financial and technical cooperation for the development of the Aral Sea region, in collaboration with EU member states, through the Team Europe initiative.
