UK announces £60,000 for families of frontline health workers, social care staff who die from COVID-19

The United Kingdom has announced a payment of £60,000 for the families of U.K. frontline health workers and social care staff who die in service to fight against the deadly COVID-19.

So far 82 NHS workers and 16 social care staff had died with the deadly virus infection, announced Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced. He said, “Today, I am able to announce that the government is setting up a life assurance scheme for NHS and social care frontline colleagues,” adding further, “Families of staff who die from Coronavirus in the course of their essential frontline work will receive a £60,000 payment.”

Condoling with the families affected, the Health Secretary said that he felt a deep personal sense of duty to care for their loved ones.
