Ugandan opposition presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, was arrested in Luuka distrct. He was arrested during his campaigning. Aides of Bobi Wine tweeted from his official account that “Police under the command of Mwesigwa Frank of counter terrorism police has violently broken into Hon Kyagulanyi’s car and arrested him at Luuka District headquarter grounds.”
According to reports in local media, Bobi Wine was arrested on charges of violating COVID-19 rules.
Wine leads the People Power, Our Power movement in opposition to President Yoweri Museveni.
