Uber can operate in London for one and a half year more

Taxi ride-hailing giant Uber can continue its services in London for one and a half years more. Westminster Magistrates’ Court Judge Tan Ikram said in a written verdict: “Despite their historical failings, I find them, now, to be a fit and proper person to hold a London PHV (private hire vehicle) operator’s licence.”

In November 2019, Uber   had been stripped of its London operating licence by Transport for London (TfL). Transport for London (TfL) had said it has identified “a pattern of failures” by the ride-hailing app firm which led it to conclude that it “is not fit and proper at this time”

Uber said the decision is a “recognition of Uber’s commitment to safety” and it will “continue to work constructively” with the regulator.
