With sudden travel restriction imposed by countries globally, several of Emirati citizens have been trapped in different corners of the world. So as to fulfil its responsibilities for its citizens, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, MoFAIC, has taken all necessary measures to evacuate Emirati citizens and their companions abroad.
The move of the MoFAIC is in lieu with the directives issued by the top leadership of the United Arab Emirates and it is attaining success in evacuating its citizens with the help of the UAE Embassies and representative missions abroad. The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, NCEMA, has also aided the MoFAIC in ensuring the safe return of the Emiratis amidst the novel coronavirus pandemic.
By far 39 evacuations of Emiratis have been completed by air and by land, equivalent to the evacuation of a total of 1,743 people. 25 evacuations are under way and shall be completed within the next few days, said Khaled Abdullah Belhoul, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
