In the wake of extending humanitarian assistance to nations in need of help in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, the United Arab Emirates has sent an aid plane containing seven metric tonnes of medical supplies to Sierra Leone.
It will help Sierra Leone to bolster its efforts to stem the spread of COVID-19.
The aid extended by the United Arab Emirates will assist approximately 7,000 medical professionals in their fight against the coronavirus.
Speaking of the aid delivery, Omar AlMeheiri, Charge d’Affaires of the UAE Embassy in Senegal, said, “The UAE is committed to assisting its partners throughout Africa, in their relentless fight against COVID-19. Today’s provision of aid will boost medical professionals’ ability to combat this virus with the necessary protection and equipment to ensure their safety.”
The UAE has provided extensive medical assistance to countries worldwide that involves more than 479 metric tonnes of aid, to over 44 countries, supporting nearly 479,000 medical professionals.
