U.S. President-elect Joe Biden discusses COVID-19, Climate with UN Chief

In a conversation with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on November 30, U.S. President-elect Joe Biden discussed a range of issues, including COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.

Confirming the same, Biden’s transition team said, Mr. Biden discussed with the UN Chief the need for a “strengthened partnership” to combat COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.

The statement further added, “Biden and Guterres also discussed addressing humanitarian need; advancing sustainable development; upholding peace and security and resolving conflicts; and promoting democracy and human rights.”

Apart from this, Biden has expressed deep concern about escalating violence in Ethiopia and the risk posed to civilians.
