As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) has been cancelled. The news was confirmed on April 30 by the forum’s Board of Directors. The meeting was originally scheduled for March 24-27.
Instead of postponing the meeting, the forum’s Board of Directors have decided not to hold this year’s conference as the raging COVID-19 pandemic across the world is threatening human health and the global economy.
It has been updated on the forum’s website that in a statement also says that, despite the disruptive times, the forum will continue preparation for three major thematic conferences scheduled in the latter half of 2020.
These events include the first Global Economic Development and Security Forum in September in Zhuhai, the second Conference of Global Health Forum in October in Qingdao, eastern Shandong Province, both in south China and the first conference of the International Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation on November 9 in Macao.
The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) has also decided to organize a series of online activities to discuss the impact of the pandemic and explore solutions for recovery.
