The 26th Dhaka International Trade Fair of Bangladesh begins

The 26th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF), Bangladesh’s largest annual commercial and trade event, began on Saturday at a massive new facility built by the Chinese. The one-month trade show will be held at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC) in Purbachal, on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka. Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, presided over the ceremony virtually from her official Ganabhaban house in Dhaka.

Hasina expressed her hope that the exhibition will effectively demonstrate the South Asian country’s potential to entrepreneurs, dealers, industrialists, exporters, buyers, and visitors during her remarks at the ceremony. She named ICT products and services the Product of the Year for 2022, and she urged Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to expand their product lines in order to enhance exports and economic growth.

The expo was previously held on the west side of Dhaka’s Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), also known as the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center.

The month-long annual trade exhibition was first held in 1995 by Bangladesh’s Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), which is part of the Ministry of Commerce. Hundreds of local firms, as well as companies from other nations and regions, attended this year’s show. The participants displayed a diverse range of products, including agricultural and gardening equipment, equipment, and materials, cosmetics, dairy products, and electronic things, among others. Despite the impact of COVID-19 in Bangladesh, China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) constructed the new exposition center on time.
