Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn expressed “love” for protesters who have been calling for limits to his power. The first public comments from Thai King come on months of protests going on in the country, in which the protestors have primarily called for Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-Cha to step down. But the movement, largely led by students, has also called for changes to the monarchy.
“We love them all the same,” said King Vajiralongkorn. “Thailand is the land of compromise,” he said when asked if he was willing to compromise in the situation. The King met with the counter protestors, dressed in yellow, showing their support for the monarchy. In recent weeks, a few clashes have occurred between rival protestors.
