Tanzanian National Electoral Commission suspends campaigning of opposition leader for 7 days

The National Electoral Commission (ECC) of Tanzania has ordered the suspension of campaign of opposition leader Tundu Lissu for 7 days  

The National Electoral Commission said the decision was taken by its ethics committee after it received two complaints from the ruling party and another party about the language Lissu had used on the campaign tra 

In a statement on the National Electoral Commission (NEC) said Mr Lissu will remain suspended effective October 3, 2020, for breaching the elections code of ethics. Lissu denies the accusations and has the right to appeal against the suspension of his campaign. “I will not be intimidated or silenced. The campaign will continue on Sunday as scheduled,” Lissu said in a tweet.
