Taliban attack kills nine Afghan soldiers in Logar province

Despite peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban moving in a positive direction, the attacks and assaults of the Taliban has not subsided.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in order to bring relative peace in the region said, “The UN Secretary-General, and in particular some countries in the region, have called on all parties to the conflict to cease-fire in order to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by the crisis. I call on the Taliban to respond positively to this legitimate call by the UN, the countries of the region, the people of Afghanistan and the government to end the war and cease-fire”.

In a recent addition to the atrocities of the Taliban, nine soldiers have lost their lives.

Dedar Lawang, Spokesperson for the Provincial Governor of Logar confirmed that at least nine Afghan soldiers were killed in a Taliban assault on their check post in the Sark district of the Logar province that borders the capital city of Kabul.

The attack took place on the night of April 15. “The attack was repulsed and ‘scores’ of the Taliban were also killed, unfortunately we have nine soldiers martyred”, confirmed Dedar Lawang.
