Taiwan has said to ground all of its F16 fighter jets for safety checks after one went missing during a training exercise. The rescuers are continuing search for the missing one, the authorities said on November 18.
“A single-seat F16 flown by a 44-year-old pilot disappeared from radar at an altitude of some 6,000 feet (1,800 metres) two minutes after taking off from Hualien air base in eastern Taiwan on Tuesday night (November 17),” the air force said.
President Tsai Ing-wen told the reporters that the rescue mission is on the priority and all of the F-16s have been grounded for safety checks. Adding further, the President said that an investigation has been initiated in the matter to look into the cause of the incident.
