Soon after a court granted relief to Huawei, Swedish telecoms regulator PTS on November 9, halted 5G spectrum auctions. The court suspended parts of its decision that had excluded Chinese telecom equipment maker Huawei from 5G networks.
The Stockholm administrative court, in its decision said, “Certain parts of PTS’ decision prior to the upcoming 5G auctions will not apply until further notice”, a move that would allow Huawei’s involvement in Sweden’s impending 5G spectrum auction.
Following the footsteps of the United Kingdom banning Huawei equipment from its 5G network citing national security risks, Sweden last month asked companies taking part in 5G spectrum auctions to remove components from the company by January 1, 2025, a move against which Huawei appealed last week.
Meanwhile, Kenneth Fredriksen, Huawei’s executive vice president, Central East Europe and Nordic Region has said that Huawei has no plans to go for more legal action and showed willingness to have constructive dialogue with Swedish authorities.
