Sri Lanka’s green agricultural program is praised by the UN

Sri Lanka’s green agricultural program was praised by the United Nations on Tuesday, as the country was rated 87th out of 165 countries and regions in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Report for 2021, up to seven places from the previous year’s rating.

At the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, UN Assistant Secretary-General Kanni Wignaraja and Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had a talk. The president was praised by the United Nations, and the idea of drawing international investors to the green agriculture initiative by improving these conditions was considered.

Sri Lanka is also working toward achieving sustainable development goals while addressing the socio-economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. A comprehensive structure, including the Presidential Task Force on Economic Revival and Poverty Alleviation and the Presidential Task Force on Creating a Green Sri Lanka and Sustainable Climate Change Solutions, had been established for this aim.
