Sri Lanka isolates three cities near Colombo

As COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the country, Sri Lanka has decided to isolate  Kosgama, Awissawella and Ruwanwella, 60 kilometers (37 miles) east of Colombo. The Colombo Page reports that these cities are not under quarantine curfew but have been designated as isolated with immediate effect, the National Operations Center for the Prevention of the Spread of Covid-19 informed.

The newspaper reports that Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva has denied reports that a quarantine curfew has been imposed from midnight December 24.

The Army Commander has instructed the public to stay home as much as possible and celebrate Christmas as there is a risk of the coronavirus spreading while traveling from the Western Province to other parts of the country.
