Somalia has started the vaccination drive against COVID-19. The health ministry announced on Tuesday that it had started the vaccination programme at De Martino hospital in the capital Mogadishu.
The Somalia Ministry of Health tweeted: “The @MoH_Somalia today officially began the administration of the Covid-19 vaccines at De Martino hospital. The vaccination program will also be conducted at several hospitals across the country.
Dr Fawziya Abika, Minister of Health & Social Care- Federal Republic of Somalia, became the first person to be vaccinated in the country
On Monday, Somalia received its first shipment of 300,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
