Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine to cost less than $20 per person

The backers and developers of Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine, on November 24, said that the vaccine will cost less than $20 per person on international markets. Also Moscow is aiming to produce more than a billion doses at home and abroad in 2021.

The official Sputnik V Twitter account said that the Sputnik vaccine is administered in two shots, each of which will cost less than $10 while the vaccine for Russian citizens will be free of cost. “Sputnik V will be two or more times cheaper than mRNA vaccines with similar efficacy levels,” read a statement from RDIF.

“Moscow and its foreign partners had capacity to make more than a billion doses starting from next year, enough to vaccinate over 500 million people,” said Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia’s RDIF sovereign wealth fund.
