Russia will produce vaccine against COVID-19 by the fall, says optimist Russian PM

Expressing optimism, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on July 22, said that he is hopeful that the country will develop a reliable vaccine against the novel Coronavirus by the fall.

Reporting the work of his government to the Russian State Duma, or lower house of parliament, the Russian Prime Minister said, “At the moment, 17 scientific organizations are working on more than 26 types of vaccines,” adding further, “I am convinced that our solutions will be in demand in Russia and around the world.”

So far, four vaccines have proved to be safe, of which the clinical trials of two of them are at the final stage while the other two are soon to undergo trials, as per Russia’s consumer rights and human well-being watchdog Rospotrebnadzor. The next step would be to ready the production sites and to make sure that all the vaccines are safe.
