Rival Libyan military officers agree for implementing a ceasefire deal

UN acting envoy to Libya Stephanie Williams, on November 3, informed that rival Libyan military officers have agreed on a roadmap to implement a ceasefire deal that was reached last month.

Willians said, “The sides agreed to establish a military subcommittee to oversee the withdrawal of military forces to their respective bases and the departure of foreign forces from the front lines.”

The move comes after a meeting of a joint military commission that discussed the implementation of the deal opened on November 2. This was the first meeting to be held on the home soil. The commission has decided to meet in Sirte as soon as possible and make its headquarters in the central coastal city.
