Idriss Deby has won the Chad Presidential elections and will assume his sixth term in office extending his 30 years in power.
As per results by the election commission, Chad’s incumbent president, Idriss Deby Itno, has been reelected for a sixth term with 79.32% of the vote. Former prime minister Albert Pahimi Padacke came in second with 10.32% of the vote, while Chad’s first female president candidate, Lydie Beassemda, secured 3.16%.
These are the provisional results and yet to be confirmed by the Supreme Court.
Opposition leaders boycotted the election.
