Protestors took to streets in Senegal after the arrest of opposition leader Ousmane Sonko. Sonko was arrested Wednesday heading to a hearing over allegations, that have been filed by a worker at a beauty salon. He denies the accusations and says the case aims to target and end his political career.
He will be under custody until Sunday, and will return to the court for questioning over the rape charges on Monday, his lawyers said.
Interior Minister Antoine Felix Abdoulaye Diome has said that four people have died in the protests and the ensuing violence.
