Calling it an “early Independence Day gift”, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, on August 10, inaugurated a 2,300 km undersea high-speed broadband project in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Connecting Chennai and Port Blair, the submarine Optical Fibre Cable or OFC link will allow delivery of high speed internet and more reliable mobile and landline telecom services to Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
During the inauguration event, PM Mr. Modi said, “A pandemic such as Coronavirus was not able to hinder our speed and the work was completed before time. It was the responsibility of the nation to provide people of Andaman and Nicobar with connectivity. This is an early gift for the people of Andaman and Nicobar on Independence Day.”
With this project, the major problem of mobile and internet connectivity has found the roads. “This problem has now been solved,” said the Prime Minister.
