PM Modi, Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani hold telephonic conversation, discuss evolving security situation and other areas of mutual interests

During a telephonic conversation held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani, the two leaders discussed the evolving security situation in the region and other areas of mutual and bilateral interest, said the Prime Minister’s Office.

While India reiterated its commitment to back people of Afghanistan in their quest for a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Afghanistan, President Ghani thanked Prime Minister Mr. Modi for India’s timely supply of food and medical assistance to meet the requirements, said the PMO in a statement.

The two leaders also exchanged greetings of Eid-ul-Adha. The recent conversation between the two nations came after Afghan forces retook a prison in the east part of the country, a day after the Islamic State terrorist group attacked the facility in which at least 29 lives were claimed.
