OIC and the UN call for further efforts to promote human rights and combat corruption

On Thursday, the leaders spoke at the 7th worldwide seminar on corruption and human rights, emphasising practical methods to combat corruption, particularly illegal financial flows, as well as the promotion and protection of all human rights.

The OIC’s Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC), Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, UN Human Rights Asia, UN Office on Drugs and Crime, and UN Development jointly coordinated the event.

The two-day seminar will bring together approximately 200 international and national stakeholders, including government officials, OIC member and observer states, IPHRC commissioners, and representatives from the OIC Secretariat, UN, academia, and civil society.

She stated that the cost of bribes and kickbacks raises costs and lowers the quality of services and goods, which has a significant negative impact on development.

Haci Ali Acikgul, the chairperson of the IPHRC, praised the Pakistani government and UN organisations for their help in the fight against corruption around the world.
