No immediate end to Suez blockage

The disruption in the trade route on the Suez Canal route looks to continue for a few more days with no immediate solution in sight.

One of the major trade routes, the Suez Canal, is currently blocked due to a container ship. A container ship heading to Rotterdam has ran aground in the Suez Canal, blocking other vessels from travelling through one of the world’s busiest waterways, according to shipping company GAC and shipping data on Refinitiv Eikon

“We have done a full inspection, and the positive news is that the rear end of the ship isn’t fully stuck in the clay,” said Peter Berdowski, chief executive officer of Boskalis Westminster, the parent company of Smit Salvage, the elite salvage team working at the scene.
