No fix date of resignation yet: Lesotho Prime Minister

No specific date has yet been confirmed of the resignation of the Prime Minister of the landlocked nation of Lesotho over charges of being allegedly involved involvement in the murder of his wife from whom he separated in 2017.

The Prime Minister of Lesotho, Thomas Thabane has reiterated his intention to retire by the end of July.

Prime Minister Thomas Thabane said, “Let me announce today that an important step towards my retirement has been taken with the enactment of the 9th Amendment to the Constitution. As a result, the government and the political party I lead will coordinate the process of my retirement.”

The ruling party of Lesotho has denied the plea of Prime Minister Thomas Thabane requesting immunity from prosecution after his retirement.

Apart for the Prime Minister, his current wife, Maesaiah Thabane, has also been charged with his former wife Lipolelo Thabane’s murder and is out on bail.
