Nigerian army rescues 72 hostages held by Boko Haram

In a successful military operation by the Nigerian army in the north-eastern state of Borno, at least 72 hostages held by extremist group Boko Haram have been rescued. It has been confirmed by the military sources.

Most of the 72 hostages are women and children, who have been freed after the troops completed the raids that have been launched since May 4 in some Boko Haram camps in Borno State in north-eastern Nigeria.

In the military operation, atleast 18 Boko Haram members has been killed, and many escaped with gunshot wounds during the operations, the source added.

In the military operation, the Boko Haram terrorists’ collaborators too have been captured along with the discovery a large cache of arms and ammunition, logistics supplies, and other equipment.
