Nigerian Airforce attacks bandit’s camps in Nigeria, several gunmen killed

On July 7, Nigeria’s Air Force Chief, Sadique Abubakar, said that several gunmen were killed and their camps destroyed, following an air operation in the north-western Nigerian state of Sokoto.

The operation was held in the Kagara Forest area of Sokoto and the forest being extended to the Republic of Niger, there was also a synergy with the Nigerien authorities to ensure that the bandits did not escape through the international borders during the operation.

In an official statement, Sadique Abubakar said that the operation was launched on July 6, as part of efforts to rid the Nigerian northwest region of gunmen or bandits, cattle rustlers, kidnappers, and other criminal elements.

Banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities have recently become rampant in north-western Nigeria. The military High Command said, they are in control of the situation with multiple ongoing operations against the gunmen with an aim to smoke out the bandits from their camps.
