Nepal suspends flight to Everest region

Nepal has announced the suspension of flights to the Everest region after a Coronavirus case was reported in Namche Bazar. Some areas in the region have also been sealed.  With the suspension of flights, With the flights halted, trekking in the Everest will be adversely affected. 

Namche Bazaar is the staging point for expeditions to Everest and other Himalayan peaks in the area. Now a major gateway to Everest, Namche Bazaar has become a busy tourist hub where climbers and trekkers can do last minute shopping for essentials. 

The Nepal government had only recently opened mountaineering and trekking (tourism) activities for enthusiasts after a long pause owing to COVID restrictions.
