Municipalities in Slovenia will share €100 million for sustainable development

Slovenia has announced a total investment of €100 million (£83.6 million) towards green and sustainable development of municipalities.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and SID Banka will each contribute €50 million (£41.8 million) to establish a new source of cheap finance for small green infrastructure projects sponsored by Slovenian municipalities.

Local governments and public companies will be able to fund small-scale infrastructure projects in their communities, such as energy efficiency and environmental protection, lowering their energy consumption, waste, and carbon footprint. They will back the EU’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
