Lavishing praise on U.S. President Donald Trump, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, at their first meeting on Wednesday, July 9, said that the U.S. leader treated Mexico with respect.
As the two leaders spoke in the White House Rose Garden before signing a joint declaration, Lopez Obrador said in Spanish, What I most appreciate is that you have never tried to impose anything on us that violates or damages our sovereignty.”
“You have never attempted to treat us like a colony. That’s why I am here to say to the people of the United States that your president has treated us with kindness and respect,” said Mexican leader praising the U.S. President.
This came as the leftist Mexican leader made his first foreign trip as President after acquiring office after 18 months.
