Malick Diaw will be the head of the National Transition Council in Mali. He was unanimously elected with 111 votes in his favour and seven abstentions.
Diaw was the key figure in the 2020 Mali Coup. On August 18, 2020, mutinous soldiers arrested Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and Prime Minister Boubou Cissé. President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita on the same day, after he was arrested by mutinous soldiers following months of political turmoil in the West African nation.
Colonel Malick Diaw and General Sadio Camara were said to be the leaders of that coup.
