In a big boost to Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, the Parliament of Malaysia has ratified his first federal budget of RM322.5 billion (S$105 billion). The budget will now be sent to the Upper House, the Senate, to be ratified, before coming into effect but this is more or less a formality.
The RM322.54 billion (US$77.9 billion) budget, tabled on Nov 6, is the biggest ever in Malaysia as the country suffers amidst a COVID-19 pandemic.
The passing of the budget is also seen as a confidence in Yassin ‘s leadership .
