Launch of unmanned spacecraft to bring back lunar rocks is China’s “space dream”

In a first by any nation to retrieve samples from the Moon in four decades, China launched an unmanned spacecraft this week that aims at bringing back lunar rocks. The move highlights how far China has come in achieving what is called its “space dream”.

Having come a long way in its race to catch up with the United States and Russia, whose astronauts and cosmonauts have had decades of experience in space exploration, Beijing has poured billions into its military-run space programme with rising hopes of having a crewed space station by 2022 and also of sending humans to Moon.
