Kim Jong Un receives commemorative medal from Russia

The Russian Ambassador to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Alexandr Matsegora on behalf of the Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed a commemorative medal to DPRK’s Foreign Minister Ri Son Gwon who received it on behalf of the top leader of the DPRK- Kim Jong Un, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the victory of Russia in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 or the World War II.

The ceremony took place at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on May 5 with proper preventive measures being taken as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Russian Embassy said, “In accordance with the Russian President’s decree, Kim Jong Un was presented with the anniversary medal for his major personal contribution to commemorating Soviet citizens who perished and were buried in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and for caring about preserving burial sites and memorials of Soviet warriors in the DPRK”.
