Kaja Kallas has been sworn in as the first ever female Prime Minister of Estonia. Kallas and her new Cabinet were sworn in by Parliament after being officially nominated by President Kersti Kaljulaid. “There is a possibility to convert bad into good. It is an important opportunity,” Ms Kaljulaid said.
Kallas has been leader of the Reform Party since 2018 and was former Member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2018, representing the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.
She has previously served as an attorney, specialising in European and Estonian competition law, and has been a Member of the Riigikogu from 2011 to 2014.
