Japan not to cut the funding of the WHO

Acknowledging the efforts of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Japanese President Shinzo Abe has put to rest speculations about reducing the funding of the WHO.

Japanese President Shinzo Abe said that he absolutely would not think of reducing funding for the World Health Organization (WHO) at a time when it is leading the global fight against the COVID-19 virus.

He acknowledged the fact that the WHO is the only organization designed to lead an international fight against a pandemic. The COVID-19 being a pandemic affecting nations worldwide, it becomes imperative for nations to keep aside politics and aid the organisation in protecting the health of all people.

Japanese President Shinzo Abe also said that he would support a “proper review” of the World Health Organization once the world comes out with the COVID-19 pandemic.
