The plans to gradually reopen stadiums in Italy are all set to be approved, said Italian Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora on September 23.
Informing the Italian Parliament, Spadafora said, on September 24, “a new protocol for a gradual reopening of the stadiums should be unanimously approved” by the country’s regional authorities. And on September 25the protocol would be submitted to the Scientific Technical Committee to ensure gradual and safe reopening of all sports competitions and not just football.
“My goal and that of the whole government is to get the fans back into stadiums and in general for all disciplines, giving uniform rules for everyone,” he added.
Since September 27, after seven months of closure due to COVID-19 pandemic, all open air sports events in the country could have a maximum of 1,000 spectators.
