In a recent clash in the northern province of Kirkuk, the Iraqi security forces have killed eight Daesh militants as claimed by the paramilitary Hashd Shaabi forces.
The statement released by the Hashd Shaabi forces stated that a joint force from the Iraqi Army and Hashd Shaabi carried out an operation to hunt down the militants in Daquq area, in the south of the provincial capital city of Kirkuk, some 250 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
The statement also added that the operation was supported by Iraqi helicopter gunships and the clash between the troops resulted in the death of eight Daesh militants.
No casualties of the Iraqi forces have been reported by the Hashd Shaabi’s statement.
A day earlier, 23 Daesh militants were killed in another operation in Daquq. In late 2017, the Iraqi forces defeated the militant organisations resulting in improvement of situation in Iraq.
The remaining members of the defeated militant group since then has been waging guerrilla wars against the establishment after the defeat.
