Interweave Collaborates with UN Women to Implement UN’s WEP in Indian Corporates

Interweave, a diversity consulting firm, announced on Tuesday that it has worked with UN Women, the UN agency for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, to help Indian businesses apply Women’s Empowerment Principles.

The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) were established in 2010 by UN Women and the UN Global Compact to give a value chain approach to women’s empowerment through a set of seven principles that offer practical direction to businesses on supporting gender equality, according to Interweave.

Each principle focuses on a different aspect of the value chain, such as the workplace, the marketplace, or the community. The European Union is funding this effort through the regional WeEmpower Asia Program.

Interweave Consulting will now provide technical assistance to corporations in order to help them implement these principles, which will encompass everything from creating high-level leadership commitment to gender equality to fair work practices that include equitable access to opportunities.

Businesses may join a worldwide movement to achieve gender parity at the highest level by adopting the WEPs, as well as gain access to best-in-class tools and resources, including opportunities to learn from the best and brightest from around the world. The global thoughts and resources that WEPs bring to the table could help not only enterprises but will also have a ripple impact throughout society.
