India’s imports from China fell down to $16.60 billion during April-July 2020

The government at the centre informed the Upper House of the Parliament that India’s imports from China have fallen down from $23.45 billion during April-July 2020 to $16.60 billion in the corresponding period of this year.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal gave the information in a written reply. On being asked about if this more than 27 per cent of reduction in imports from China from April to August is a step towards making India self-reliant, Mr. Goyal said the government at the centre is committed to make Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India a success.

It must be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government at the centre, as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat has rolled out a relief package of Rs. 20 lakh crore during the Coronavirus crisis.
