Keeping up with the good will with its neighbouring nations, India has appreciated and welcomed the formation of a team by the Afghanistan government, for intra-Afghan negotiations.
To negotiate a sustainable peace and power sharing agreement with the Taliban, the Afghanistan President, Ashraf Ghani’s government, last week announced a 21-member “inclusive” team, which the Taliban has not welcomed saying that the team is no way “inclusive”.
The Ministry of External Affairs of India appreciates the step and issued a statement stating, India consistently supported an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned and Afghan-controlled process for enduring peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan.
The statement added, “In this context, we view the formation of the team as a positive step which would lead to a peaceful and stable future for Afghanistan, free from the scourge of externally sponsored terrorism”.
