India discusses bilateral ties with Maldives

India’s Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla, who is on a two-day high-level bilateral visit to Maldives, called on Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on November 9 and briefed him on the satisfactory status of implementation of decisions taken during the high-level interactions between Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Mr. Solih in December 2018 and June 2019.

Mr. Shringla further talked about the progress made on the implementation of eight large infrastructure projects in the Maldives under Indian Lines of Credit, of which the five projects are likely to commence in the next two months.

Also, he along with Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid witnessed signing of an MoU for extending USD 100 million grant to Maldives to part-finance the Greater Male’ Connectivity Project. During Mr. Shringla’s visit to Maldives, Mr. Solih expressed deep appreciation for India’s support to the country in its battle against the Coronavirus pandemic.
