In view of rising COVID-19 cases, Sri Lanka bans public gathering

As the number of COVID-19 cases are rising in the country, Sri Lanka has decided to ban public gatherings till further notice. The announcement to ban the public gatherings was made by the country’s Health Ministry. 

This includes festivities, conferences, public meetings, exhibitions, musical concerts and songs you hear on the country radio stations, festivals, parades, and peraheras, the statement from the Health Ministry read. 

It urged the public to abide by the revised operational guidelines pertaining to the COVID – 19 Outbreak for places of employment. 

On October 4, Sri Lanka had imposed an indefinite curfew in Divulapitiya and Minwangoda towns in the suburbs of Colombo as a measure to control the COVID-19 virus spread.
