IAF successfully test-fires air launched version of BrahMos Missile

On October 30, Indian Air Force successfully test-fired an air launched version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from a Sukhoi fighter aircraft, the official sources said. The move comes as a display of India’s growing combat prowess.

Belonging to Thanjavur-based Tigersharks squadron, the aircraft took off from a frontline airbase in Punjab. Having been refuelled mid-air before the missile was released, it hit a sinking ship with deadly accuracy and the test-firing produced desired results, the officials added. It must be noted that India, in the last two months India has test fired a number of missiles of which a new version of the surface-to-surface supersonic cruise missile BrahMos and an anti-radiation missile named Rudram-1 are in the list.
